Age-Friendly Edmonton

The term “age-friendly” is growing in popularity. At its most basic definition, it means an inclusive service, program, policy, or location where age is not a barrier for accessibility. Although age-friendly initiatives seem to target the older adult population, it’s important to note that being age-friendly is applicable to all people – and the removal of barriers for improved access is a benefit for the very young and the very old, and all those in between.

The city of Edmonton has been a leader in municipal policy regarding age-friendly practices. The city, and the Edmonton Seniors Coordinating Council have partnered to start the Age-Friendly Edmonton initiative. Check out the timeline below!
